Local Vs Global

Recently I am reading a book called 'Geographically Weighted Regression'.
We always find in social science, most regression is done in a global statistics, which means statistics is calculated over all possible pairs of points or areas.
On contrary, a local statistic is one  which is calculated on pairs of points or areas which are adjacent.
With regard to local statistical methods, there are spatial and aspatial as well.

In this book, we are concerned about the local spatial statistics.
